In a career spanning over 15 years Prof. Haritas has worked in industry, not for profit organizations and Inter-governmental agencies, in over 15 countries, across 3 continents, on scores of strategy design and execution projects / programmes. Early in his career he was part of several strategy planning groups both at national and Asia Pac levels and serviced such clients as American Express, Iridium, Standard Chartered Bank, BPL Telecom, ProFX and Madura Garments. Subsequently, as an independent management consultant he led several strategic reorganization and value chain reconfiguration projects with medium sized Indian businesses looking to expand into international markets and into higher value added activity. After moving to Europe In 2003, Prof. Haritas obtained a MBA degree from HHL – Leipzig Graduate School of Management (Financial Times European Business School Rankings 2014, Germany top 3), before being recruited out of campus by T Mobile International (Deutsche Telekom AG) to work on internationalization issues at their world headquarters in Bonn. He subsequently moved to the United Nations in Geneva to the International Trade Centre (ITC), a specialized agency of the UN and WTO systems that deals with International Trade and Business. At ITC, Geneva, his roles varied from country portfolio coordinator to expert to project lead / lead author. He actively collaborated across the UN system, with partner countries and with Transnationals, some main partners being UNCTAD, WTO, UNIDO, ILO, WIPO, UNESCO, FAO, AfDB, World Bank, IFC, UNWOMEN, UNECA, Kuoni Travel, Mars International, Firestone, Sime Derby International, South African Airways, Unilever, Daimler Benz, IBM, First National Bank, DFID (UK), CIDA (Canada), SIDA (Sweden) DANIDA (Denmark), CBI (Netherlands), AFD (France), GIZ (Germany) and USAID (USA). Prior to joining TAPMI Prof. Haritas worked as Principal Advisor on strategy and sustainability issues, advising foundations, governments, intergovernmental organizations and private firms.
